I had a long day this past Sunday. Immediately following the implosion of Texas Stadium … I had to head home to pick up my beautiful wife and take her to Fort Worth for the 2010 DFW Mud Run to get down and dirty. She was on a team of five women who have more determination than most men. I could have done the obstacles … no sweat … but not during the course of a 10K run. I think I would have died. Heck I thought I was going to die trying to stay ahead of them on my bicycle in order to take photos of them at each obstacle. One of the team members shoes completely fell apart and she had to run more than half of the course in her socks. I would have been done right there! We had no idea of what to expect … but I can tell you there was a ton of mud!

After a crazy … but awesome weekend of travel to and from Cabo San Lucas, Mexico for a destination wedding … I ended the week off with a bang!
I’ve always wanted to see an implosion. Needles to say, I’d been anticipating the implosion of Texas Stadium for a long time. The event surpassed my expectations tremendously. The experience was truly INCREDIBLE!! I was in the BEST possible place to view it … from one end-zone to the other … and for free. The sound of the explosives being triggered are still etched in my mind. Of course I photographed the event … and have found some great videos on the Web. Unfortunately … no matter how good the photo or video … neither will ever convey the experience of actually standing there in person. Here’s a few of the 80 plus images I captured from my vantage point as the stadium was laid to rest.

You can see one of the first explosives detonating on the left.

If you’d like to see video … I found this video on YouTube. It’s was captured from the same location. I’m off-camera by about two or three people on the right-side in the foreground.

It’s that time of year again … which means it’s time to send out Christmas cards. We’ve been taking self-Christmas portraits to send out to our friends and family for the past three years. We’re definitely getting better at it … but it’s still surprisingly difficult. Here’s a few of my favorites from what we captured a couple of weeks ago for this year’s card:

One of these days I hope to have an actual work related post. But I’ll be the first to admit that photo sessions have been on the dry side the last couple of months … but light rain is in the forecast next month. So until then … I’ll keep posting whatever cool stuff I come across.
Jennifer’s grandmother suffered a few strokes recently … the second one left her totally blind. So it’s crucial for someone to be around most of the time to help out. We’ve been spending almost every Sunday about 40 miles south of Dallas in Ennis at her grandparents farm. It’s been nice to get away from the city for an entire day every week … and definitely away from the computer screen. Of course I usually have the camera on hand just in case I get bored or inspired. You’d think I’d run out things to photograph … but on 40 acres … there’s always something going on. Especially the cows … some of them act like they know they’re in front of the camera!
Here are a few shots from last Sunday:

Jennifer and I went down to Ennis yesterday to hang out with her grandparents on their farm. I took the camera along because I hadn’t really had a chance to see what the new camera is capable of since it arrived last Monday. The dynamic range, color and ISO performance are amazing … and I’m officially pumped to shoot the portrait sessions that I have coming up. Luckily there’s lots of cool stuff laying around because no one was up for getting their photo taken … except for the stray cow that decided to stop by for a quick portrait session … and her grand-dad … who didn’t have a choice.

My two-year old nephew Jakob was a tad spoiled by Nana and Pappie this Christmas! I begged my entire childhood for a Power Wheels … I remember drooling over them everytime we went to Toys ‘R’ Us. Yeah … I never got one. I’m not jealous … I swear! ; )

Jennifer and I took the tri-pod down to the park near our house and had ourselves a last minute portrait session. A few lucky people will get one of these awesome photos in the mail within the next few days! : )
